The distribution agreement will improve market penetration for Xceedium and its signature Xsuite solution in the Middle East region. Spectrami expands into a new office to manage growing business in MEA region

The value added distributor’s new headquarters, which measures 4500 sq. ft., will house a strong team of skilled professionals, covering UAE, KSA and South Africa

Spectrami, the leading value added distributor in the region, has announced that it has moved to a bigger and better office in Dubai, UAE. The new office, which is located at Mazaya Business Avenue in Jumeirah Lake Towers, measures 4,500 sq. ft. and can seat a workforce of 45 employees.

Currently a team of approximately 20 employees will be stationed at the new facility, and the company expects to grow its headcount to about 45 soon. The new office will cover UAE, KSA and South Africa, with dedicated resources allotted to each of these markets.Speaking about the achievement, Anand Choudha, Managing Director, Spectrami, said, “We are very excited about shifting our headquarters into a bigger and better office. This is in line with our commitment to our entire channel community in this region. Among other facilities, the new office houses an improved Customer Experience Center (CEC), which will showcase all the products and solutions we offer through our partnerships with leading technology vendors.”

Choudha explained that in addition to the new CEC, the office is also equipped with a world class training lab, which can offer all kinds of training and certification programs to its customers and channel partners. The number of meeting rooms has also been increased from 1 to 3 in the new facility. “The new base will provide the staff and location to take on even more local operations and better serve our existing clients and channel partners. The new office is part of our existing growth strategy, which has the potential of creating more jobs in the UAE in the coming months, in addition to increasing our company’s turnover in the process,” concluded Choudha.

Channel partners from all over Middle East attended Tech Workshop that was held earlier this month in Dubai. The workshop ran separate tracks for sales and pre-sales and was well received by channel partners.

Partners like Wipro, Al Rostamani Communications, Enterprise Objectives, Gulfnet, ISYX Technologies, Vision Horizon, Boolean IT, and Byoun Technologies, were among the few who attended Tech Workshop.

The Training Manager for EMEA region at Violin Memory, Mr. David J Ross presided over the training. He began with the introduction of the company and explained the benefits of enterprise class of flash storage solutions from Violin Memory. During the workshop, Mr. Ross also revealed the unique product architecture that gives the company’s solutions a distinct advantage.

The partners’ technical teams were given hands on experience on products as well as offered deep dive technical sessions. The main focus in the sales training sessions was laid on product positioning, competitive landscape and the technical edge that Violin’s enterprise flash storage solutions offers to the enterprises in the region.

Spectrami successfully concludes the first edition of Confluence partner event

Spectrami, a leading value added distributor in the MENA region, has successfully concluded the inaugural edition of its partner event called Confluence. The event, which was held at Rotana Resort and Spa Hotel, Fujairah, UAE on 26th and 27th February 2014, saw over 40 partners from around the region gather under one roof.

In addition to over 40 channel partners attending the event, Confluence 2014 also saw over 130 one-on-one meetings being conducted in a two-day time frame. The event also saw participation from 7 vendors, and over 16 sales and technical presentations done in two parallel tracks.

All attendees of the event had access to Spectrami’s special presentations, meetings and breakout sessions. “Spectrami believes Confluence 2014 will help channel partners ‘Inspire Minds,’ by creating the ideal environment for strengthening relationships, building collaborative sales strategies and aligning efforts,” explained Anand Choudha, the Managing Director at Spectrami.

Choudha further said, Confluence 2014 was used by Spectrami and its channel partners to share success stories and customer wins which can be replicated across all the territories the company is present in. “Our presales team also ran technical sessions for our channel partners. In addition, we also provided an opportunity to interact with our vendors on a single platform and learn more about their technologies and market potential.”

M. Suleman, the Managing Director of Enterprise Objectives from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said, “The event was indeed a good initiative by Spectrami to gather all of its channel partners from across the region and the vendors under one roof to facilitate face to face meetings. These meetings have helped us understand the products and offerings better, thus allowing us to plan our market strategies better.”

According to Choudha, being the first ever edition of the event, co-ordination was a major challenge. “We had many attendees flying into Dubai from all over the region. So getting them to the event’s venue on time, thus ensuring all sessions started off without any major delays was a concern. However, I am glad that all the event started off on time. We have had a tremendous response from all our channel partners and we plan to convert this event into an annual affair,” added Choudha.

Choudha said that though the event was to close at around 5 pm on 27th February 2014, he said the meetings went on until 8 pm due to a huge demand for one-on-one meetings between channel partners and vendors Spectrami represents in this region. Choudha also added that for 2014, the company will start off its operation sin South Africa.

In  2013, the company doubled its sales team, and hence in April 2014, the company will shift its operations into a new 5000 square feet facility. Spectrami also plans to upgrade its Customer Experience Center, which will showcase solutions and products from each of its 7 vendor partners. By doing so, Spectrami expects to grow by 50% this year.

Data explosion is one of the major challenges for CXOs

How was GITEX for Spectrami?

GITEX has always been special for us in so many ways. This year, our theme at GITEX was advanced security threat protection. So, we had various technologies on board that can help customers with securing their data, such as DLP, vulnerability management, and so on.

On the storage side of things, we work with Actifio and we are introducing Violin, which is a leader in flash storage space with 19% market share. We are also bringing in Good Technology that focuses on mobile data management and so on.

These solutions are what customers want today and hence channel partners are looking at bringing these kind of technologies on board to help them sell more to their customers.

What sort of challenges do CXOs face today?
One of the major challenges CXOs face today is managing risks. There has been so much of advanced security threats that it takes time and efforts to identify the right technology to secure data in an optimal way. There are so many vendors out there that offer these solutions. However, zeroing-in on the right solution is a challenge on its own.

To get the right solution, CXOs need to identify their key objectives, what sort of data they produce, where do they store their data, and so on. For instance, the banking sector has a different set of challenges, and so does the government, or oil and gas sector.

Traditional technologies such as firewalls, IPS, and so on, do not work anymore at an optimum level to protect humongous data today. You need to have different mechanisms and technologies in place to face up to the security challenges of today.

Managing the skills is another challenge for CXOs. Having to right resources to manage these solutions onsite, to analyse the threat landscape and act accordingly, and so on are also challenges.

Is data explosion a challenge for CXOs?
Data explosion is indeed one of the major challenges the CXO faces today across the region. The bigger challenge is they don’t even know that data explosion is happening. They don’t see that production data is growing so much.

And to manage that is becoming an increasing task. From a data perspective, one of the major challenges is to have an idea on return on investments. CXOs also need to understand how can they optimise their current resources. Some of the solutions we offer address those challenges.

How do you compare security threats in the Middle Eastern and Africa markets?
The infrastructure in the Middle East is far better than most of Africa. Companies here have already deployed the basic infrastructure in the last several years. The basic level of networking and the basic level of security is also in place. And they are now looking at addressing advanced security threats.

In Africa though, companies are still looking at implementing the basic IT infrastructure now. Unless you have basic infrastructure in place, you won’t be able to deploy solutions that address advanced security issues.

The three core markets for Spectrami are UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Oman has also been a good market for us. While many companies are focusing on the SMB market, we mostly focus on the enterprise segment.

We are a 100% channel driven company. We actively engage with channel partners. We have a partner on-boarding process, through which we don’t just recruit partners. We also train them continuously for them to understand new technologies that can help them in selling better.
